You can't see her, but she is always here. Every minute, every second. You are happy and laughing? Doesn't matter, she sees you anyway. In fact, it's often when you are really happy and could laugh your head off that she catches you. Then she pulls you instantly down into this damned black hole. - People who don't know her (and be it your own family) and see you when she caught you, say: "Pull yourself together! It cannot be so bad; look, there are people that are doing more poorly than you. Come on, be more social. Go out a little bit!" - How can they dare to think they know what you should do?! - When you're better, they say: "So you feel well - great to see you're over it and healthy!" --- We, too can laugh. We, too, can be happy about something. But anyways, the Depression is always right behind us and waiting for the right moment, and we feel her incessantly. -- P.S.: Okay, she will stay - I think it can help to see and read you're not alone with this.

Thanks so much, ladies! I too know her since now 15 years, and for me it's really when I'm really happy because something wonderful happened, or I'm laughing my head off, like I have written, that she instantly pulls me down. So like "No, you've got no right to really be happy or laugh, I got you back! You won't forget me!" And sometimes it is that, even when I laugh about something, I stand near myself, like only a part of me is laughing and the other asks: "What are you doing here?"

I can so relate to this picture. She's been a constant companion of mine since since I was 9 and first felt her presence. Some days she makes me wanta die, others I can keep her in check, but I never can truly be rid of her.

I understand this picture all too well. She almost controls my LIFE /: Some days are better than others, but when she catches me, she drags me down so much my soul is crushing beneath her...
