Hm, might be - they use lots of German words as names, too - such as Kaufmann ((male) merchant) and many others I can't think of at the moment ^^ But the thing about his last name makes sense. Coming up with a good name for yourself is quite a challenge... I think the author(s) just looked up some Italian words (and maybe their meanings) and used them, end of story. And, while Japanese sounds slightly similar to Italian, I don't think "canale" is a Japanese word.

Thanks for your comment, Aylatha! :) As to the name: I've got no clue ... Maybe the author ran out of ideas for story characters?! XD .. Now, the surname, Dellacqua, is surely an assumed name, for all I've read in the manga. He had to hide many years before his own brother, who wanted to kill him. But, the prename, Canale?! .. It's a japanese manga; maybe this word has an entirely different meaning in japanese .. but it's indeed weird.

I like the design you went with, especially Canale's hair and jacket look awesome. His name is really weird, though - it translates as "channel of water". I know you can't help your last name, but who in the world would pick such a name for his child?!
