| Anne was born on the 6th February 1665 to James, Duke of York and Anne Hyde. Her father was the younger brother of King Charles II. As a child Anne had an eye condition so she was sent to France for treatment and she lived with her grandmother and then later her aunt, however when her aunt died she went back to England. In July 1683 Anne married George of Denmark. On the death of William III in 1702, Anne became Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland. Anne had 18 pregnancies altogether but only Prince William survived infancy, but sadly William died at the age of 11 from Smallpox leaving Anne with no heir. Between January and July 1713 Anne was unable to walk and in 1714 she suffered a stroke, causing her to loose the ability to speak and on 1st August 1714 Anne died aged 49, she was buried next to her husband and children in Westminster Abbey.
