#TwilightRealm and its #Witches, #Oakenlings, etc. belong to @LadyLeaf. Continuing my Three Witches story:
Eternal Meryamaat, not having been given orders to the contrary, had brought to the High Priest's Temple her ceremonial crook and flail of rank. In more benevolent societies, these might be purely signs of the rights of good governance, representing the wise shepherding of the people, and grain harvesting proving stewardship over the land. For the Iretmoses, however, nothing was ever purely symbolic. The crozier, or Serpents' Crook, allowed the bearer access to any Snake-Eyed device, machine, or storehouse of information. Its counterpart, the whiplike Forked-Tongued Flail, was the ultimate weapon of punishment and dominion over others. These were items of physical, not merely political, power. When the pair were combined, interdimensional rifts such as the one in which the Hibernatorium nestled, could be created. Pure awe of Meryamaat kept these relics safe. |
