And, as the days passed, Marea's worry and emotional turmoil eased, seeming to become vague and distant until they almost vanished. It didn't matter so much that Mark was a Yeled, it wasn't as important that his people were anathema to her own, and even the questions of whether he wanted more from her than she was currently prepared to give, or what exactly she was prepared to give, appeared less pressing. Increasingly, the Witch developed an attitude of "what will be, will be, and it is good."

The young Witch found India strangely calming, despite the floods of people everywhere. There was a rich history, and an ancientness that transcended the mundane and flowed through the culture. She spent much of her time in the temples, learning to chant the holy mantras or abiding in silence. Nevertheless, a person does not go all the way to India and not sightsee a good deal. Marea liked the street stalls where you could find literally anything the most, more than the beautiful buildings even.

As usual, Marea packed light, for her needs tended to be simple: staff, cellphone, crystals, toothbrush... Since she considered this a retreat from the everyday world, so to speak, Marea didn't tell anyone but her grandmother Ynarra where she was going, however all her loved ones had her cell number if they needed to reach her. That was assuming they remembered about smartphones, of course. Marea wasn't sure they'd have chargers in Yu'ooda. Still, no catastrophe was really likely to occur.
