Maybe Azalea's Viking maker is an odd choice for my favorite woman of the Bible, but I really like the head-scarf it offers, so, oh well. I've already used "the (wedding) quote" in my doll of Ruth and Naomi, but if there is one lesson that I learn from Ruth, it is that of Devotion. In some traditions, it is said that there are three main paths to God: the Hand, or good works; the Heart, or devotion; and the Head, or study. Of course, everyone mixes these to some extent, but my own primary calling is that of Devotion. This is a bit ironic for such a bookworm, yet true. Born a Moabite, Ruth's devotion to Naomi, her mother-in-law, leads her to embrace Judaism and travel to Bethlehem with her. She eventually marries Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi, and is a contributor to the lineage of King David and Jesus. |
