Cat turned again to face the man, who was only just attempting to stand. She shoved him back down hard, then, stretching out her arm, touched his forehead with one fingertip. "Sleep!" she commanded, and he subsided. It wasn't a terribly potent magic, and wouldn't last long, however someone had surely run for the police by now. Catleya sat meekly on the curb to await their arrival, examining her cloak for damage, and once or twice smothering the woman with it when she showed signs of rousing.

Thus, Catleya was prepared for the telekenetic shifting of the earth beneath their feet, minor yet significant, while her opponent was not. She staggered. Following up on her advantage, Cat crouched low for another spin/kick, sweeping the legs out from under the other woman. Clearly the Goddess Nocturnia didn't favor Catleya's would-be killer, as she fell heavily, hitting her skull on the stone curb with a nasty thud. Her eyes rolled back, showing white, but there was no blood. She'd live.

Almost immediately the older woman countered with magic, a simple darkness meant to blind one's enemy. Catleya didn't even bother to dispel it. Listening intently, she detected her assailant's side-step, and landed an elbow neatly in her abdomen, stealing her breath and ruining her concentration. With the darkness gone, Cat could see that the man was still down, air wheezing painfully into his lungs. This time the young assassin didn't wait to be attacked, but struck with magic of her own.

Two assassins just to kill one harmless landscape gardener? But when they had set out, the duo had no way of knowing that Velen wouldn't be with her, and once in Ville Eternelle, why not ambush their victim as a team and make short work of her? Pushing distracting thoughts from her mind, Cat focused on the woman. Her opponent had eased around, sizing her up, and now lunged with a knife towards Catleya's back. A well-aimed spin/kick caught the woman's wrist and sent the blade skittering away.
