| De'jara's reaction (SPOILER FREE, I hope) to the events in Chapter 17: When the news comes, she cannot quite believe it. Even with appropriate confirmations and discrete visuals, it is difficult to comprehend such a momentous change. Surely, she thinks, she must have been aware of something, some danger in the air, some warning whisper, but then, who would be so lax as to entrust such a secret to her? Not that she is unsafe with confidences, however this is on a whole other level. De'jara frets briefly for her brother, yet truly, she simply cannot imagine that these events will touch him more than through official channels, which will be challenging enough to navigate, she supposes. Society will go on, shaken, but not too unsettled to function. Still, her life will not be the same. De'jara will not allow herself to be so complacent in the future, or so uselessly frivolous.
