Merlin was born to Lylith the Lyllaen Queen and an Alu Sage. He is technically an Alu Sage, but his mother was too powerful, so Merlin was given the choice between knowledge and magic, and he chose both. When Mabel called upon the help of Lylith, the Lyllaen Queen in turn chose her son as her agent.
At some point of his life, a stone tablet came into Merlin's possession. Through the tablet Merlin summoned the Lylthian princess, Alinna Innunna, and had her entered into his service. In the end time of his years, Alinna renounced her claim of Merlin's servitude in his afterlife. In turn she offered that if she ever need help in the future, Merlin must answer. The wise man agreed and was taken to Avalon by Morgana.
Merlin was later summoned back by Alinna to watch over her human past and family. He now takes the name Bob Carmarthen and runs a cafe in Brighton.
