| From left to right: Ursula (16 years old), her beloved mother Vanessa, and her sister Morgana (13 years old). Not pictured is her father, who died in a war between octopids and merfolk, leaving the family poor, desolate, & desperate. Ursula's father had been a higher-ranking officer in the octopid army, respectable & wealthy. He fell in love with & married the lovely lower-class octomaiden Vanessa, but he died "dishonorably" while saving the life of an enemy mersoldier, thus smearing the family name. The family grew to hate merfolk, blaming them for the father's death. In a fit of despair, Vanessa fell deathly ill, leaving Ursula to care for her sickly mother & younger sister. Hearing rumors of magical Caribbean healing potions, Ursula set off in search of a cure for her ailing mother. To be continued . . . #UrsulaBackstory |
