| (The outfit <3) For their first disguise, a merperson will use the potion that makes them human, then strip themselves of their mer-clothes and don an outfit of seaweed or other natural material, pretending to be a shipwrecked person who had been lost at sea. The first human who willingly takes them in is almost always the type they're seeking out--full of compassion and integrity. The human gives them normal human clothes, food, and a temporary place to stay, and in return, they reveal themselves to be a merperson and offer their magical services. A merperson will generally stay with the same family or human who first took them in every time they visit that island. Depending on the length of their stay, the merperson may get a temporary job and buy their own clothes, food, sometimes even rent their own dwelling, so as not to be a burden and/or to seek out other worthy souls to offer magic. |
