For @Yellowauthor's World-Swap contest. I haven't made anything Odin Sphere in FOREVER so I swapped Gwendolyn with my own warrior-princess, Therda :D And because Gwen's usual attire is kinda really hard to figure out, doll-maker-wise, and Therda's uniform is boring by comparison, I went with those pretty dresses that neither of them really likes to wear because they'd much rather be out there kicking dragon butt :D
Oswald: "Gwendolyn...will you wait for me." Gwendolyn: *super bitter face* "I belong to you now. If you command me to wait, I shall obey." Oswald: "You are not an object. And I will not allow anyone to treat you thus...Never..." Me: #OTP!!!!!!!!
The only honorable way for a Valkyrie to be removed from the battlefield is to die on it--anything else is the highest shame they can imagine. Gwendolyn doesn't seem to have misgivings about the dress in particular (she even wears it before the actions that lead to her banishment to get her father's attention), but she's very snippy in many of the scenes she wears it. Fortunately, Oswald's got a good comeback for most of it XD.
So about Gwendolyn's personality (because I feel like explaining that more than I feel like making breakfast XD)--the dress actually belonged to her mother. Gwendolyn is a Valkyrie--a mighty female warrior skilled at aerial combat. But over the course of the story, she is marked a traitor and her punishment is marriage, meaning she's never supposed to take up her spear again. And there's a lot of intrigue involved and throughout all of it, Gwendolyn keeps finding reasons to keep fighting.
