Fortunately Robin could perform at least some magic after dark, just not the Alfyn spells he'd learned from his father, presumably due to his Witch mother. Elora, whose powers had been stripped, didn't object to being left in the background during this mission as well; she was merely grateful to be of service when she could be. The Yeled, however, grumbled a little. When his complaints were traced to their root, though, Marea couldn't be annoyed. Mostly he was angry to be unable to protect her.

Forcing Sharp to spill his secrets would be practically impossible in public, but perhaps a back room at a bar might do in a pinch. Again Marea would act as backup, and since they were up against one of the fae, she would partner with Draensil, her fellow Witch. Mark shouldn't be practicing his magic, and it was almost as tied to the sun as Robin's anyway.

Random chance was always a factor, but that was why they called it gambling after all, and in this case, the prospect of finding out the full tale of what had transpired between Sharp and the female Iretmose was worth the minor risk. No, the greater danger was that Sharp would prove to be a sore loser and pull a weapon on the Bubble Magician before he had time to react. Karako judged she could disarm a Dorfyn with a knife before she was harmed, yet there was a slim chance he might hurt Robin.
