Essentially the team was just killing time between sunrise and sunset. The real mission was carried out in shifts overnight: hanging around the base of the cliffs listening for Beweneth to sing the eldritch summoning tune as a signal of her arrival. They kept watch in pairs to combat boredom and weariness. It was late evening of the second day when Robin and Karako as in the process of yielding their place to Marea and Mark when the Kitsune's keen ears picked up the distant voice of the Morgen.

Maybe the Iretmoses had dwindled in numbers until they changed their patterns of behavior... yet Robin didn't think it was likely. They were a stubborn and stagnant race, convinced of their ultimate superiority. Maybe they planned to use the Oakenling as leverage to force Vedika into doing their bidding semi-willingly. Or maybe... there were dozens of maybes, not only for that move by the Snake-Eyed, but for everything the enemy had done. None of their speculation accomplished anything concrete.
