Marea could understand; if there's a good chance someone might kill you tomorrow, why save money for next week? 'Still,' the Witch thought with a small wave of sadness, 'I can't live like that.' She sighed. Now wasn't the time to think about possibilities. Instead, Marea should either be briefing and coordinating her team, making contingency plans, or getting some serious sleep. That last one sounded the most tempting. "Good job finding us some appropriate wheels!" Marea told Mark drowsily.

She'd had nearly two hundred years to invest wisely, so the Candeliana Witch had quite a sum built up. And if she needed extra cash, her mother and grandmother had been accumulating valuables for much longer than she had, and would always grant Marea a loan, or a gift, whichever best suited the circumstances. Ironically, Mark had been alive for a bit over two centuries, but first his life had been focused entirely on military pursuits, and afterwards he'd gotten a shade reckless in his attitude.

Mark finally returned with a used hybrid Toyota SUV that seated six if you didn't have particularly long legs. Luckily, of the four women, only Draensil was tall. Marea suspected he might have employed his gift to manifest a miracle, because how many hybrid SUVs were there, really, for sale in Copenhagen? Yes, the Yeled had bought the vehicle outright, since they doubted they'd bring it back anytime soon, and he'd "borrowed" some of Marea's "emergency fund" money to do it. That was okay, though.
