Faletian was a Candeliana Witch and presumptive heir to her aunt Aisling's position as one of the Mistresses Supreme. Right now she carried a summons for Ynarra, Brin, and Marea (as the only Candeliana Witches involved, they were the only people she could send for) from Aisling in her capacity as the Hallowed Madness, or oracle, however. Being blind as well as frail, the visionary rarely left her home, so one did not ignore such a command appearance, especially since they were unbelievably rare.

...as the odds of the malefactors becoming careless, or Tiger or Vedika attempting an escape, increased with distance from the initial incident. As it was an entirely reasonable thing to do, this course was quickly adopted. The team had no opportunity to put into effect, however, because, just before everyone signed off and hung up, someone knocked on the door of Ynarra's cottage, and these days that might be important to the mission. It proved to be. The visitor was Faletian Sylvanna-Tylyach.

In lieu of any better suggestions, Brin recommended that Marea return to the mortal world equivalent location, and start scrying for the duo in concentric circles expanding outwards; she based this plan of action partially on the two kids' past record of skipping back and forth between the realms, and partly from her own experience during her recent quest when trying to lose pursuers through similar zigzagging. Using this method, they might be able to pick up an unguarded sign of the 'teens'...
