Soon the sun set and the hour neared for Brin to arrange her hair, do her makeup, don her wedding dress, and generally prepare for the ceremony. With a flutter of fabric reminiscent of birds coming home to roost for the evening, Marea and Isthare appeared with Brin's gown as well as their own bridesmaids' dresses, in order to perform their ultimate function as attendants and help her get ready. For many brides, they were also called upon to calm and soothe, but Brin was fine in that respect.

Vaguely, Brin was aware of a desire to be helpful, but her family and friends seemed to have the situation well in hand, and kept telling her to rest and relax... something which she had absolutely no difficulty in doing. So time passed, and she simply wandered wherever her feet took her, tweaking a flower here or a ribbon there, and the items she touched appeared a little brighter for their encounter with the bride, although that might have been merely a fanciful illusion... or perhaps not...

The people responsible for all of this were almost a blur to Brin. She couldn't stop smiling. It was the smiles in return that held her attention rather than names and faces which she recognized in the moment, of course, but later floated away like soap bubbles. Candles stood ready in every available nook and sconce to illuminate the greenhouse venue once darkness fell. Brin considered carefully and objectively, as if she'd had no say in planning the decorations, and decided it was lovely.
