Thanks a million, Lexia!! I really like this look for her as well! I'm going to miss writing this story when it's done! But exciting conclusions must be told; that's kind of the whole point. :)

Ohh this combination of women's clothing and military garb is really striking and feels like it would be the iconic look of this cannon. Like a perfect representation of her so called "masculine" & "Feminine" sides balanced in harmony! As for the writing, I love the idea of Mulan looking Shang up and down going "No time to make you pretty". Really like for Shang & Mulan Yu Shan is the main boss, while Shan only sees them as more swords in his way! Brilliant!

Then Mulan moved to protect the Emperor and parry the sword cut aimed for Shang at the same time. She feinted, sidestepped, and gave one of her friends the opportunity to dodge in fast and grab the Emperor, literally lifting the old man off his feet. Shang scrambled up as well. Seeing two swords to worry about and his prize, the Emperor, slipping through his grasp, the Shan Yu swiftly occupied the doorway, their only escape from that height, meaning to kill the Emperor even if he died trying.

Shang and two or three others now ran beside her. They were just enough to incapacitate the four Huns, handpicked by their Shan Yu as the best, stationed outside the door. Li Shang and Mulan raced out onto the balcony, first; they were the only Chinese with swords. Shang barely had time to draw his weapon and block that of the Shan Yu, who had lost patience and was swinging to behead the Emperor. The angle was terrible for him, and Captain Li went sprawling. Fa Mulan called for her friends.

Yet, although only a few soldiers remained behind to tie up and watch the captured Huns, the numbers of the small force decreased as they penetrated further into the palace. Finally, Mulan judged that there couldn't be that many Hun warriors left either, and, time being of the essence, she discarded her skirts and ran, with Yu Lien to guide her. Fortunately, the sword spirit had been inside the palace before, and knew the way to the central balcony where the Shan Yu was holding the Emperor.

When Li Shang touched her shoulder, flung his cape around the pillar next to hers and prepared to climb it, Mulan's heart soared at his belief in her. She beamed, but all she said was, "Stay back until we get most of the guards taken out," since there was no time to dress him as female. The Chinese were quick, they were silent, and they left a trail of stunned enemies behind them who never suspected a threat from these painted, ornamental ladies... until it was too late. Mulan led, of course.
