Absolutely fantastic, this has been truely gripping, but I love how Mulan's companionship with the other men allows her to take on Shang regardless of rank. That she earned their trust despite the imbalance in their captain. I hope the "love tiger" as Yellow put it before, makes a recovery =D The tearss are a nice touch and I love this new outfit!

Without hesitation, Mulan placed herself between the lunging swordsman and the springing tiger, unguarded back towards Li Shang, hoping that the cat could, and the human would, abort their strikes in time. The Captain was shouting for the others to stay back, that the animal was his to kill, but after Shi-Yang skidded to a halt, Mulan turned, drew the Jade Lotus Sword, and ordered them, with magical encouragement, to disregard their commander as he was hurt and ill, and take him back to camp.

However, this ensured that Mulan had two guards, along with some of her army friends to take with her, due to the persuasive powers of the Sword of the Heroine, when she saw the green mark against the sky that was Yu Lien's signal for help. Luckily, the small party didn't have far to run, since Yu Lien was only able to restrain the combatants by slowing time around them for a short while. When they arrived, Li Shang was bleeding from a paw swipe across the upper arm, but no further damage.

His judgement was poor, he snapped and snarled at people, he seemed to regard Lu-Long as his personal property, and he let his duties slide; Shang was going feral. Recently, he'd yelled at Fa Lu-Long for continuing to train, and placed him under house arrest in the Captain's tent for insubordination and attempting to usurp a superior's authority. This presented serious problems for Mulan, and she'd almost been caught half-dressed several times, relying on her wits, luck, and the Jade Lotus.

(cont) There was a dangerous mix of hunger that was not quite lust, and anger that was not quite hate in Li Shang's eyes when he looked at the soldier he knew as Lu-Long. Twice he'd lost his temper to the point that Mulan was afraid she might have to defend herself, bringing dishonor and court martial down on her head, because she wasn't sure that if he ever hit her, the Captain would be able to stop himself in his condition. He still possessed his intelligence, but he was severely unbalanced.
