Thanks very, very much, Lexia!! Human Shang's personality changes are severe and alarming, and I may get more into that in the next doll. But since Yu Lien has never encountered this situation in all her years with the Sword of the Heroine, neither she nor Mulan has any clear idea of how to remedy the problem, and reintegrate him with his "Tiger half". There's danger for the tiger Shi-Yang as well; if he continues to hang around human dwellings, he'll be feared as a man-eater and eliminated.

Loving this twist on the story and am in complete agreement with Yellow as this is packed with heroism, magical whimsy and that touch of dark tension that I love in a good story. Love how you've deipicted this intense scene of Shang facing off against the tiger as the spirit of the sword watches on. Bravo!

Thanks so extremely much, Yellow!! I'm just ecstatic to have such distinguished and discerning fans, lol. Seriously, though, I think I should clarify that Shang berates Mulan because she says she hit him in the head with her sword sheath, but I used male pronouns there as Captain Li thinks she's Lu-Long. Rereading it, it was a bit confusing...

This story is seriously SO COOL!!! *.* I can totally see this being a movie! Honestly, I think it's more interesting and compelling than the original! Seriously!! You wrote this so well, too; I could vividly picture the tiger holding Mulan's gaze, feel the tension of the scene as she holds her breath, waiting to see if it will pounce to attack ... And then it turns and runs away! The Shang vs. "love tiger" is such a creative and suspenseful plot, too! Brilliant!! :D

As his desperation to kill the tiger consumes him, Captain Li spends less and less time training the new recruits. So the spirit Yu Lien invisibly accompanies Shang as he searches the hills above the camp, hoping her own limited magic can stave off disaster, should it come to that. Meanwhile, Mulan continues to practice her martial skills on her own, according to Yu Lien's instructions. More and more other soldiers are joining her, much to Shang's annoyance and fury. What else can they do?

... who he grows more convinced is somehow stealing his Chi, his life force, and must therefore be destroyed; and lastly, the tiger, whom Mulan privately calls Shi-Yang, is maturing at a rate only magic can explain, and continues to haunt the environs around the camp in his almost humanlike desire to be near Mulan. This fills the young woman warrior with dismay and fear. What if the two should find and harm one another, even kill each other? Yu Lien has no idea; this event is unprecedented.

As far as Yu Lien is able to determine, the Sword of the Heroine has removed everything within him that made Shang capable of loving Mulan along with his affection for her, creating three horrible problems: Li Shang is still moderately obsessed with Fa Lu-Long, although he doesn't know why and this frustrates and enrages him; Li Shang is becoming fixated on hunting the tiger...
