| Continuing my #Mulan tale for @DysMalLexia's contest: Mulan is very busy learning to act like a man, becoming a soldier, and at the same time, closely studying her Captain, Li Shang, whom she might have to incapacitate and impersonate in order to have the influence to win significant victories. The Sword of the Heroine is not above providing its owner with a little magical help with her disguise, or for that matter, aid in allowing her to detain and replace her commanding officer. Jade Lotus's enchantment is entirely Yin Energy, however, and legend has it that if a man tries to take the Sword from any woman, even a thief, it will betray him to his death. Despite trying to remain detached as Yu Lien advises, Mulan finds herself growing fond of her human military trainer, and there are subtle hints that he is perhaps not quite indifferent to her, even in her role as a male recruit. Neither truly understands the danger, though. (*) |
