| For @DysMalLexia's Re-Imagine your own Disney Fairy Tale contest: #Mulan... as twisted by me. Here the young lady goes to war in part to spare her father, but mostly because that's what the women of her maternal line have always done in times of peril for their homeland, though they have gone unheralded. Fa Mulan's grandmother's grandmother's grandmother, etc. was granted the mysterious Sword of the Heroine aeons ago by the Heavenly Jade Emperor, ruler of all Chinese deities. The weapon is also known as the Jade Lotus Sword after its guardian spirit, Yu Lien, who guides the inheritor in its use. Mulan is the latest of these, and plans to join the army disguised as a man in order to help defeat the Hun invasion, while still preserving her family's secret legacy.
