Don't ask me why I'm now watching this series on Netflix... I don't speak Korean and what I know about Asian mythology in general fits easily on a postage stamp, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it anyway. It reminds me of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" only with adults.
Anyway, here are the two main characters: Jin Seon-mi, also known as the latest reincarnation of the monk, Samjang, with her charmed umbrella; and Son O-gong, also known as Monkey, or the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, a title he bestowed upon himself.
Without giving away spoilers, I can say that his eyes don't always glow red like that, and she stops carrying her magic umbrella at about the same time that he starts wearing that mysterious bracelet, called a Geumganggo. |
