They were, of course, quite ready, so Niyam proceeded with the marriage rites. Each took a separate taper, and together they lit a candle which was twisted together, from the two flames. Mistress Supreme Niyam guided them through their vows, all traditional to one culture or the other. Brin and Hawkeye did also have some private promises, but these they pledged nearly silently, for each other's ears only, during the exchange of love tokens, in this case, rings. Then it was time for the final Handfasting, wherein anyone who'd brought a ribbon or cord wrapped it about the joined hands of the new couple. It was a very colorful knot, and each shade had a meaning. A broom was brought forward, and this the two jumped over, although it wasn't held very high, and then, the ceremony being over, they laughed, and ran out into the night.
