"Do what you feel is right. I have faith in you," he said agreeably. Therefore, Isthare sought out Elora in Ynarra's temporary quarters, since she'd been released from her fortified cell. The slash across the palm didn't have to be deep... hers had bled exactly four drops... but it was traditional, and now Elora's blood was joined with Isthare's by her athame, her sacred knife. She would never be Silvana-Tilyach, as you had to be born of the lineage for that, yet she was part of the family.

As though that thought had decided her, when truthfully it was only the most recent before her choice gelled, Isthare suddenly felt warm and calm. Jaenell would never have considered it. Probably her own mother wouldn't approve. Yet she was going to do it anyway, unless Ooneil objected. Later, when he was awake, they discussed her reasoning, and he simply laughed. "My own, you are thinking with your heart, but that is no bad thing, so long as you remain able to use your head," he averred.

You could, of course, ignore it and turn your back on it, becoming estranged from family, genetic or acquired. Elora had a history of doing precisely that, in fact. On the other hand, Ynarra had been steadfast for centuries. Would the Mistress Supreme and her daughter and granddaughter be part of this deal? They would be under no obligation to do so, but they were the kind of people to welcome her of their own volition. That would be nice, especially to have Witch family members for the baby.

She gave a long look to Ynarra and Brin, who had been silent spectators to this conversation, before bidding all three farewell for the moment. Her duties as Timekeeper fulfilled, she returned home. Speaking up for Jaenell's killer was one thing; adopting her as an aunt was quite another, and more intimate, action. There was no breaking a blood bond.

A little worried that she'd be rejected as unfit to be of use to her victim's niece, Elora hurried on, "I realize that there's much at stake, and you'll want time to think about it. However, I'm available at any time you need me."
