Hence, that afternoon, other Dark Witches started to filter in to speak for Elora. Noticeably, they didn't have as many positive memories to revisit as some of the Light Sisters, however there were more of them to come forward. And, as on the previous day, Elora clearly benefited from the attention, even if there was very little true affection offered that didn't originate from Ynarra. For much of her life, Elora had made herself a difficult woman to love, fervently as she regretted that now.

Many people were, if not shocked, then certainly surprised that Isthare would exert herself to aid her aunt Jaenell's murderer, yet the young High Mistress felt that there had been enough loss and sorrow and bitterness. Also, if she could brave public censure to assist a fellow Dark Sister, other Witches began to think they could as well. Although the Union of Vengeance didn't have a reputation for selfless altruism, its members felt strongly about solidarity and loyalty to the Sisterhood.

On the second day, Isthare once again led the way for the Dark Sisters of the Union of Vengeance by bringing her own recollections to contribute to Elora's reformation. Apparently, perhaps due to a feeling of isolation despite the fact that she had shunned her family rather than the other way around, the former High Mistress had shown unanticipated benevolence to Isthare after the accidental death of her mother. It had never been formal, nor was the contact close at all, but it had been there.

Still, each little bit mentioned in her defence was a ray of light that Elora had not expected anyone to bring to her life ever again, and they added up. Ynarra remained at her sister's side, silently when other Witches were visiting, but always a reassuring presence. And, by the end of the initial day of Elora's period of judgement, it was having a definite impact. The guilty woman's tendency to feel sorry for herself had lessened slightly, and she volunteered comments other than when asked.

Sometimes Elora would even smile faintly at these reminders of happier times, although equally often, a random thought would bring on a spate of tears. In the afternoon, others of the Candeliana Witches who had come specifically to speak for a woman they'd known when they were young appeared. Some had a great deal to say, while others could recall only a few, larger instances when the Dark Sister, then a Light Sister, had been helpful or considerate. It had, after all, been several centuries.
