For @DysMalLexia's #WhoDonIt? Contest - Round Three

After that weird dream, I don't know if I want to call it a nightmare or not, but it was definitely strange, I thought I'd take a little walk before trying to go back to sleep. I was in the upstairs hallway, almost back to bed, when I noticed Rosa Romero apparently had the same idea. Then I noticed that she was walking a little oddly. And her eyes... I know a thing or two about hypnotism, and there were absolutely zero thoughts in that girl's head, none whatsoever; she was completely under someone else's control. I immediately suspected our sadistic hostess, Miss Tree. Who ever it was, they were clearly homicidal, because, when she got close enough, Rosa took a swing at me... with an ax she'd pried off a wall decoration. I did attempt to snap her out of it, to wake her up, but she was just too far under... or, let's face it, maybe I'm not that great a hypnotist while dodging an ax.

Did I mean for Rosa to suffer sufficient brain damage that she'd die? No, not if she could be brought back from her hypnotic state safely. Do I regret my actions? No, I was defending myself, and I'd do it again if similar circumstances arose. It is a shame about Rosa, but I tried my best, and sometimes accidents just happen. If it's anyone's fault, it's whoever stole her thoughts away in the first place, probably the nefarious Miss Tree, or someone she, in turn, pushed into killing.

For perhaps the third or fourth time I jumped back from the robotic swing of the ax, when I decided I'd had enough and used my martial arts skills to fight back. Kicking the ax from Rosa's hand, I spun and backhanded her hard across the shoulder. I didn't realize we were that close to the stairs, but at that point, I don't know that I'd have cared. She needed to go down, to be stopped. Rosa did go down. She fell awkwardly down the imposing staircase, hitting her head severely more than once.
