About that time, the Ghillie Dhu and the Bubble Magician reappeared in the main hall. They hadn't opened every door in the Keep, or explored the dungeon, but as far as Robin and Tylyr could tell with a sprinted once through, the stronghold of the Yelaadim was now empty except for those soldiers trapped in the barracks, and any that might be in the tower above. Taking a swift tally, the invaders calculated that there should be somewhere from zero to six Yelaadim for Marea to face... and a Witch.

Seeing that the reformed Yeled was desperately in need of a break to catch his breath and recuperate, Belandvyn abandoned her own end of the great hall to cover Mark. She'd only had to use four additional arrows, and was equally curious about the absence of a generalized alarm. Maybe Tylyr and Robin had managed to confine the dozing Yelaadim, but shouldn't there be at least a Yaldah or two in a castle this size, wondered the Maenad. They couldn't all have gone to the Middle East, could they?

Tylyr grinned. "Half the night, probably; that's very sturdy construction," he estimated. "Yeah, that sounds about right," Robin replied, pleased, before the faux bloodborns went in search of further Yelaadim. Down in the main hall, defenders had come running to investigate the disturbance. Mark was puzzled by the lack of an alarm bell or gong, in between fighting soldiers, often two at a time. Half a dozen bodies now littered the ground to either side, where he'd kicked them out of his way.

In the dim light, it was difficult for the half-Alfyn Magician to be positive, yet Tylyr assured him there were 14 Yelaadim drowsing in the large room before Robin jammed the door mechanism with a hardening bubble that completely filled the lock. "Get the hinges, too," the Ghillie Dhu suggested, and accordingly, Bubble Magician coated them with sticky bubbles that toughened as they quickly dried. "They can still break down the door," Robin judged, "however, it'll take lots of time and effort."

Robin was the first to run into opposition, in the form of the partner of the man who'd wanted coffee. A pale green bubble smacked over the Yeled's head, and Tylyr promptly stabbed him in the throat. The pair of them discovered two more Yelaadim in the hallway leading to the barracks, but the Ghillie Dhu and the street performer narrowly prevented them from rousing their still sleeping comrades. One went down to a lavender bubble and a baseball bat to the temple, the other to a thrown knife.
