It was, of course, unthinkable that a Witch, whether of the Dark Sisters or the Candeliana, would partner with the Yelaadim. In fact, it was unthinkable that any Nephilian except the Iretmoses would do so, yet it had obviously happened. However, with an allegation this serious, it was important first to establish that it had not been one or more of the Serpent People providing the masking and finding spells for the Yelaadim. They had definitely had an accomplice of some sort do this for them, though; their own powers had not lent themselves to these tasks. Marea had heard that much from her smokey crystal.
The two ladies therefore spent several days combing the neighborhood for any sign that an Iretmose had been in the vicinity ten years ago. Then they repeated the process for Damians, in case one of that race had gone rogue, independent of the squad from which the Yelaadim had fled. |
