The young cleric realizes that trying to shelter Catleya is futile, and maybe a bit condescending as well, yet he would prefer to have a little while longer to work on figuring out a way to free her from the clutches of the syndicate before she receives enough pieces of the puzzle to potentially solve her father's murder. Sadly, Velen has no good ideas at this time regarding that particular conundrum; maybe Deva will have thought of something brilliant. There is always hope. He believes that.

So, Velen thinks to himself, my mother knows who, it seems precisely who, the killer is. And Catleya's mother knows why, at least in broad terms, Sobralin D'Esperis was murdered. I, however, actually know neither. What will I tell Cat? His heart beats twice as he ponders. Why am I even pretending that I won't tell her everything, down to what I suspect without foundation? She must trust me, so that's not negotiable. But... maybe, just maybe... I won't tell her as soon as she gets home.
