"Ah, either it's love, or this cleric is woefully insane," she clarifies. "I keep trying to tell him he's insane, but he just won't understand," Cat grumbles.

Though the young women know each other extraordinarily well, Catleya's Syndicate ties have never been discussed between them. How much Deva guesses, is a subject that they are content to leave uninvestigated. She is the only one, however, that Catleya has taken into her confidence regarding her true father and his mysterious death. And now, of course, she is aware that the connection between Velen and Catleya was formed by unusual touch-telepathy on his part, and grudging acceptance on hers.

It never seemed strange to the two girls that they should be playmates, since they did live near each other, although in different neighborhoods; the back gardens of their estates were adjacent and the fence wasn't high. In fact, the association was actively promoted by Meretris and the family from Yogure, leading to speculation that Deva was unacknowledged kin, perhaps even an illegitimate daughter. Cat and Deva knew the latter was false, but that they might be "step-cousins" intrigued them.

Technically a hybrid, Prem Deva is 3/4 Kuromi, having one Noirfey grandparent. Her family is rather wealthy, being invested in, and excellent judges of, crystal quality. However, Deva, as her friends call her, chooses to follow her dream and work her way up in the fashion world. She is quite talented, and her sketches are artwork in and of themselves. To try to be more widely accepted, the darker-skinned girl has adopted many Noirfey customs, including nail art and the basic style of dress.
