Thanks so much, Queen!! I had forgotten that Rachel was so desperate for children, but then, so were most of the biblical matriarchs, initially having fertility problems.

Jacob meets the shepherdess Rachel at a well. Her father Laban invites Jacob to the house, where Jacob falls in love with Rachel and arranges to marry her, working seven years as her bride wealth. However, Jacob is tricked into marrying Leah, her older sister first, and then must work another seven years to earn Rachel. Unfortunately, Rachel seems barren, and envies her sister the children she has with Jacob. Therefore, she arranges for her maid to be a surrogate, and has two sons that way.
