Being half... not so mortal... magic is second nature to Desi, but Angelica was always afraid of the temptation that it provided. And partly for good reason. The pursuit of interesting spells leads Des to meet and deal with some highly dubious, if not outright unsavory, characters. Also, the girl does not have her eyes on Heaven, but is delighted by the pleasures of Earthly life. She avoids the excesses which might take her into Hell's dominion, however; she is adamantly her own person!

Angelica watches over her daughter, perhaps disappointed in her choice of reading material, but not really surprised; she has known Desi since her birth, after all, and is more than familiar with her stubborn streak. It is the outcome of this initial encounter with both her parents that is responsible for Desi's signature sleek grey style in garments. If one is going to live in the shades of grey between good and evil, and is moreover named for the color, it only makes sense to advertise.
