He says he will know when he meets her, and no one doubts him, although a few entertain questions of her reaction upon being told that she is to be his bride. As for Kanu, while his duty is to watch Parakeet, his incentive is also getting to watch Summer Wind, which she is not quite oblivious to, and slightly flustered by.

On the nights when Parakeet chooses to sing and dance for the amusement of the men of the caravan, sometimes Silver Fox will make the effort to inhabit his human shaped doll and become, for a time, basically indistinguishable from his boy self, but this drains his energy, and he wants to keep the ability secret from Parakeet, who tells everyone everything.
