The population of the caravan fluctuates, with some people joining for a short while before settling down again in a distant area. Others have been with the caravan their entire lives, like Zellah. Zellah loves her family (by both blood and friendship), but lately she has been wondering if she really wants to spend the rest of her life travelling and rootless.

Zellah is a member of a merchant caravan. Her father is a tailor and her mother a skilled embroideress. Zellah has picked up some of the skills of their craft, but she has always been eager to learn anything that others are willing to teach her. She has five younger siblings that she helped raise, along with various other children of the caravan. Her entire life has been spent traveling from one town to another, selling their products and trading for new goods.
