| Theme 2: Ancient Civilizations. Indus Valley Civilization was one of the first civilizations to have developed on earth. It was contemporary with that of Mesopotamia and had major trade dealing with them as well as other parts of the world. The Harappa and the Mohenjadaro civilizations of the Indus Valley were both prosperous cultures that thrived in the lush river valley. I believe Belle with her personality would have had a grand adventure living in that time amoung those people. The inspiration of clothing is derived from ancient archeological artifacts depicting bare breasts with a cloth drape on top. Heavy jewelry similar to today's Indian styles and yet different. The bottom is probably the ancient ancestor of today's Saree and dhoti wraps. Evidence shows there wore a long piece of cloth wrapped around the waist and tried under at the back. Research also point to finding trace of red paint on women's hair parting from artifacts. It could be the Indian tradition found roots here. |
