Rule 2: There should be a source of shadow. It will the side opposite you light. Thus for me it is the Left side. More in comments

I take the transparencies set at the greatest transparency and begin filling from top to bottom on the left hand side. For ease of use I prefer using the medium circle mostly. switching with large around the side of the bust and small to fill in the edges.

Step 2. There is a small gap where you filled in the waistline in the previous step. Now is the time to cover it with and at the same time add the shadow shading. I choose one color darker than the dress.
