Basic shading method that I've come up with through trial and error. Others may have their own ways that work best for them. Rule one: Choose one side to be the light source. I use the Right side mostly and keep that as standard. More in the comments.

Yup! Octavia was asking about shading on my other doll so I thought I'd make something for beginners. I know I was a mess when I first started. This way maybe i can help someone out a little:)

Next: I choose the transparent circles in large and medium size set at the greatest transparency. Go over the area of the waist and blend with the rest of the material. Continue covering and blending until entire waistline is done.

Step 1. Pick a base dress. I chose a short fitted purple. Now I want it to have a smooth body and texture with no waistline. I picked the solid fuzzy circle in the small size and begin to cover up the waistline.
