They split up when Lynwen was really little, and her father raised her. She stays with her mother occasionally, although she doesn't approve of her dancing. (I'm doing Camp NaNoWriMo this summer, and will be writing a full story about Lynwen!)

Cadel, the father, is at the lowest noble rank. Morwyn, the mother, is part of the middle class. The two were young when they got married; barely over 1800. Lynwen came along 200 or so years later. They were both attracted to each other, but for different reasons. Cadel thought Morwyn was the perfect girl, and Morwyn selfishly married him for his title and money. Since the divorce, Cadel is embarrassed of his rank, because it reminds him of her. He does not plan on remarrying.
