She went to live with her grandmother in Central City in a rather rundown apartment, in a rather rundown part of town. After a few years of living there, there was a gas leak, and an explosion in the building. Her grandmother was out at the time, but she had not been. The explosion had hit her on the right side, and she was covered in severe burns. Her right limbs were mangled, and infected, and had to be amputated, and her right eye was no longer functional. She and her grandmother barely had enough money to get by, and the cost to get the automail Genie needed after the incident, well, they didn't have it. Junichi, who had been in the hospital after an assignment went wrong, and he lost his left hand, was there to get it replaced. He hard about Genie's predicament, and maybe out of pity, or generosity, offered to pay of it. |
