There was only one thing that bothered her, a tiny little piece that didn't fit precisely into the picture as planned. What about those strangely vehement whispers that an Alu Sage had been seen, not in Northern Europe, but somewhere in the Middle East, or rather, in the part of the Twilight Realm accessible from that region? It was probably just some idle Fae rumor monger varying the theme to make himself seem important, or even a simple mistake in retelling. But still, it shouldn't exist.

The most brilliant part of the plot was that the High Mistress wasn't required to come out into the open to contact would-be conspirators. All she had to do was keep a close watch on every known store of litella. Who would try to hold an Alu Sage against his will without shackles of that rare metal? And the only faction to possess enough currently were the Yelaadim, who still had those they'd used ten years before. When she'd inspected the hoarders, she could choose a candidate to approach.

What the Traitor truly desired was not the interest of all the Damians, no official involvement, merely a small party commanded by someone as greedy as herself. It had to be a force of Nephilians, however, since she didn't think the Alu Sage would make the same mistake twice and allow himself to be caught in the mortal realm. Still, if they were persuaded to cross over once they had secured their prey, and happened to run into a squad of waiting Yelaadim, the Witch couldn't be better pleased.

After all, knowledge was power. To take the man prisoner, as well as fend off any other interested parties, just might be beyond her limits, though, the Traitor had admitted to herself. She needed an accomplice, or group of minions to control. Hence she'd started rumors in Seaddhu, where no one would expect, gossip that was slowly spreading throughout the Twilight Realm. The High Mistress was aiming for the ears of the mercenary Damians, however, the Iretmoses would serve virtually as well.
