| Walela is a trio, named for the Cherokee word for hummingbird, comprised of renowned native singer Rita Coolidge, her sister Priscilla Coolidge, and Priscilla's daughter Laura Satterfield. I'm probably not Cherokee at all... my father wasn't above embellishing his family history... but when I listen to Walela, I can almost believe that I have that in my blood. It speaks to me. Rita and Priscilla both tend to wear long, neutral skirts and fringed jackets, while Laura leans a little more modern, and has even had blond hair once or twice. |
