From my favorite children's book, now sadly out of print, "The Practical Princess" by Jay Williams with illustrations by Friso Henstra - 1969. Bedelia defeats a dragon, confounds a sorcerer, rescues herself and a prince from a tower, and lives happily ever after. You can see the book cover here.
