"Somehow I doubt it," Ji says, appearing noiselessly behind her shoulder. Gingerly he touches one of her bruises. "I don't like seeing these marks on my fiance, Imp!" continues the purple eyed fey, with a dark, nasty hint of violence in his voice. "I don't need to be rescued, Ji," Ifrit mutters under her breath. "This is not a rescue, it's a team effort. I'm switching jobs with you. Keeping your mother confined is rather boring, really." The thought makes her smile. "I'll get a bottle."

"Surrender now, and Zephyr just might not kill your friends," Imp adds nodding significantly back at the campsite. Again, Ifrit shows no reaction. Something like this was expected, and she's not particularly concerned now that it has come to pass. Ji will handle her mother, and her mortal friends aren't precisely helpless. Instead the blue djinn female risks a glance into the distance, off toward the south. "Pay attention when I'm talking to you, wench! You will learn respect!" Imp growls.

This is good. Imp is stalling for breath and a chance to rest and recover for a few moments. Yet even as she propels him several yards across the desert sand, scraping his back through the tattered holes in his coat, Imp lets out a barking laugh. "Your slave boy, however you managed that, has deserted you. It's obvious you can't win." Ifrit doesn't deign to respond. She's conserving every precious drop of energy restored by this tiny break in the action. He's gone for the ring, of course.

On the other hand, any time blood flows, apparently regardless of whether it's hers or his, Imp seems to grow stronger. Ifrit is still trying to keep her distance, but it's becoming more difficult to dance lightly away. Until recently, Amen had been helping whenever and wherever he could, augmenting a spell here, providing a distraction there. Lately, however, Ifrit cannot recall having seen the renegade slave boy. She hopes he's not too badly injured. "Looking for someone?" Imp snarls.

Ifrit is wounded; she's been kicked, punched, and bitten. Imp loves to make personal contact. She, on the other hand, is trying hard to force him to use the biggest and splashiest magic he's got. Happily, he's not averse to this, as showing off is integral to the small red fey's character. The blue woman thinks she has him beaten, just ever so slightly, in the magic department, having been in practice as a bounty hunter instead of inured in an abandoned lamp for the past several centuries.
