"You're determined to get me into trouble, aren't you... miss?" "Not if I can find a way to get what I want without it," the girl says magnanimously, unexpectedly candid for once. "Did Mother say they couldn't come to me?"

Alone, he lacks the power to keep an ifrit from going anywhere she pleases, but he has been commanded to stand watch and act as an alarm system, since he is fully capable of detecting her escape. Ifrit, however, has learned wiliness from her mother, and has set out to wind her young warden around her finger as much as possible. "Hist!" she whispers to him now. "Amen! We have guests here, visitors... what are they like?"
