"Mourning Cloak made plans for both my body and my spirit, although never with my spirit inhabiting my body again. Yet he promises that, if you accede to his wishes, you may have the fox figurine, and that I can even temporarily walk about as a human boy, almost, if I am transferred to a simulacrum made of enchanted wood, wax, or clay. Father removed my spirit and transferred it into a silver statuette of a fox that I was shaping. He tells me that this was to prevent me from injuring or killing myself while he was away."
