| For @NightOwl's Contest. Julia was a Roman Christian girl probably aged 12-14. Her mother isolated her in the countryside becaus eall citizens were required to avow faith in the Roman gods. Julia ran away to the law court of the governor Dacien and professed herself a Cristian, insulted the gods and the Emperor Maximian, and challenged the authorities to martyr her. She was torchered with hooks and torches, stripped and burnt at the stake, where she suffocated in the smoke. She taunted the soldiers all the while and as she died, a white dove supposedly flew from her mouth. CONT |
