| Here is Adair in his real form. Shapershifters have dark skin colours, black, dark blue, dark violet, sometimes dark brown, and they have tails. Their hair colour is mostly black. His hair is red because of his elven father. Because of their scales they glisten in the moonlight, which is one of their weaknesses (no, they are no vampires XD), and so they live mostly in the woods. They only come out for hunting (they are predators) in shifted form. A shapeshifter can hold his changed form for at the utmost 10-12 hours, then he needs to transform back for some hours. That's why Adair lives in his old castle, so he can change back if necessary without being seen.
It is said that somebody saw long time ago a pure white one, an albino-shapeshifter, but it's not sure; and they couldn't survive as beings living in the night; they would be killed by their own kin for they would be way too eye-catching.
