With her heart burdened with grief and in need of holy guidance, Ka'asume offers prayers deep within a sacred place her grandmother told her about. A place where the Protectors are known to be granted audience with the gods.
Very neat! ^^ There's plenty of potential there, too. DD does actually have a forum with an entire section about writing and tips that fellow writers have shared. ^^
So that's the plotline I'm going with, fairytales as told by different cultures/countries through the eyes/voice of a hybrid fae princess, and because of this, they're somehow woven together to make one (insert end of sentence here).
Sorry I ran out of words there. But thank you for the advice! I just wish there was a sort of chat room on DD where anyone who needs help, inspiration, or simply to talk could go to. I find being around others, if not physically, is good for brainstorming.

I'm really into fairytales/mythology/folktales and the cultural aspects of them. They're so many variations of the same story(s) from countries completely opposite of globe from each other that they make for a great basis to any tale as they are some of the oldest in world. Many do have some of their elements rooted in truth. So that's the plotline I'm going with (cont. above)
Thanks! I also seemed to have trouble coming up with names for things: I.E. the last name of my heroine's royal family & WHAT kind of faerie-folk they are, because she's a faerie & human/elf hybrid. Her family's genetic bloodline is pretty simple since most are elven, they've lived for a long time, so only a few generations have mingled with humans outside their world. Her family's dynasty however is dysfunctional. I've decided to go with a royal family based around H.C Andersen's snow queen.
(Cont.) You don't have to start with the beginning of your story. Write scenes as they come to, find where they fit, or maybe you'll figure out that they don't and rework them so they do. Start with your ending if you need to, so you know where you want to end up. There are a bunch of tips on Pinterest, but sometimes they get confusing and contradict themselves a little. Just make sure to write what you want. In the end, it's your story and you should be proud that you created something. :)
Thank you, everyone! ^///^ @KoxyMoxy4 The best advice I can give would be to keep reading and keep writing. (I know, that sounds terrible and vague, but it helps so much!) Read all sorts of genres from all sorts of decades and different writers. Find what you like about them and what you don't like. It helps you form your own style of writing. And keep up with your writing. Practice is so important. There's always editing later, just make sure to write.
What's you're advice to someone who's been trying to write a story for a few years now, but--much like her main female protagonist--can't quite get her feet off the ground?
Yes, me, I'm talking about me.........HELP!
She knelt in prayer for hours, motionless as she poured her heart out in supplication to the Holy beings she venerated. The dew and small ponds began to frost and smaller plants closed their blooms to protect them. Ka'asume's fingers were beginning to turn blue and she shivered as the wind blew stronger. She gazed heavenward and saw the beams of moonlight through the trees, shining upon her loose locks, illuminating the ends in an icy glow. "Thank you..."
