"Very well, then," Cat pleads sweetly, for to lose patience with the Bird Man is a dreadful mistake, "I know that he was killed. Why? What was the reason for his death?" "Better," approves the elder, retired assassin. "Sobralin D'Esperis... it seems to me that the unfortunate young man was murdered. Very professionally, but not by a professional. Cat says, somewhat startled. "Do they indeed?" "Yes, and always return satisfied."

"So... the killer is a person of authority in the Syndicate to which we both belong who would hear of what you told me, but is not an assassin..." Catleya says, as though musing aloud. "How intractable you must have been not to tell me that, or to give me the name of that person." She smiles. "The Bird Man is a law unto himself," replies the former assassin calmly. "Thank you for this interview, Master," and Cat, sensing their question and answer session is over, dips her head in deference.

"But why? And by whom?" Catleya queries, desperate for information, yet not so distraught as to forget to whom she is speaking. "Ah, the why would give you the who, and vice versa, I think, with a very little research. And I could tell you... but it would place you in danger immediately and you would still have no proof. They will ask you, in our syndicate, what I said to you. I suggest you tell the absolute truth, that I was contrary and refused to divulge more than a few tidbits of data."
